Verbosity is a word game for anagram fans. Every day, the free Daily Run gives every player on Earth the same seven letters, and you see where you placed in the world. Find every word hidden in your letters, from short words to the one word that uses all seven. Long words and rare words score the most.

While you spell, an alien beast chases you across five planets. Each word you find fires a bolt from the device on your wrist and knocks it back. When you stop to think, it closes in, and a word that is not in the dictionary lets it lunge.

HOW A RUN WORKS

Make words of two letters or more, then tap ZAP or anywhere on the screen to fire. Longer words, rare words and fast spelling score more. Hits without a miss build a hot streak that multiplies every word after it. If the letters stop making sense, tap JUMBLE or shake the phone to reorder them.

Each planet hides words that belong to it, like TRAM in Toxic City. Find one and it fires a superblast that throws the beast far back and scores two or three times as much. Good words also charge your flares. A flare throws the beast back without a word, but it ends your streak.

MODES

Daily Run is free. Every player in the world gets the same letters on the same planet, with one attempt per day. See where you placed in the world that day, and share your score without giving away the words.

Campaign takes you from planet to planet, ninety seconds each, until the beast catches you.

Endless has no clock. The ship comes only when you find every word your seven letters make, and the beast gets faster with each planet.

One purchase, Full Clearance, unlocks Campaign and Endless. There is no subscription. Training teaches the game in about two minutes on a real run.

MADE FOR IPHONE DUO

Open it like a book: the chase runs on one side, your wrist device on the other, with the word log and the chase meter above your keys. Half open like a laptop, the chase stands up and the keys lie flat. Half open like a book, the run waits until you open it fully.

FIVE PLANETS, CHANGING WEATHER

Every planet has its own weather, and it changes from run to run: acid dusk over Toxic City, spore blooms in the forest, storms on the Drowned World, whiteouts and auroras on the Frozen Waste, ash storms and lava surges on the Cinder Plains. Each game also deals fresh letters, and each planet is faster than the last.

LEADERBOARDS AND PRIVACY

Game Center has leaderboards for high score, planets cleared, words in a run, longest streak, Daily Run and Endless, plus seven achievements.
